WHy Does

Position Matter?

During labor, the relationship between the maternal pelvis, soft tissues, and fetus plays an important role in how the fetus descends and rotates through the birth canal. The pelvis is not a rigid structure; small changes in maternal position can alter pelvic dimensions, muscle tension, and the way the fetus interacts with the maternal anatomy.

Labor is a dynamic process that requires coordination between uterine contractions, fetal movement, maternal anatomy, and gravity. Encouraging safe maternal movement allows patients to participate actively in their labor experience while supporting the natural physiologic processes that occur during birth.
